Aims and Objectives

To search for the generation and preservation of knowledge through teaching and research.

To create awareness to all those admitted to the university and make provision for the advancement, stimulation of intellectual life in Uganda and the world over.

To offer courses relevant to the needs of all people in the struggle for development in a holistic approach where men and women will develop their full potential, academically, spiritually and physically, thus making them productive in their communities.

OBJECTIVES: To train and equip pastors, lay readers and other church leaders in Biblical Studies and leadership skills in order to help the local congregations be grounded in the scriptures and reach out to the non-believers. To provide facilities for full-time students and those attending seminars, workshops and conferences for continued education in church leadership. To develop a high-quality theological library. To Encourage the development of theological and discipleship materials by local scholars. To Work in cooperation with existing distance learning theological education pro-grams.

Ruharo Mission Hospital is a Private-Not-For-Profit (PNFP) faith based institution of Church of Uganda-under Ankole Diocese. The Hospital is located at Ruharo, 4 kilometers from Mbarara town on the Mbarara-Bushenyi-Kasese-Fort Portal highway, in Kamukuzi division of Mbarara Municipality.  The Hospital is a 100 bed accredited health institution of the Uganda Protestants’ Medical Bureau (UPMB) and is registered by the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The Hospital is composed of three departments namely General Medical Services (GMS), Ruharo Eye Centre (REC) and Organized Useful Rehabilitation Services (OURS) with 2 state of the ART operating theatres. The hospital provides general and specialized health services to a population from 13 districts of South Western Uganda, the neighboring countries of Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo and the rest of the country.

General Medical Services, comprises of an Outpatient unit (OPD), a Dispensary, Laboratory, medical stores, Maternity unit, theatre, community health and General ward.  GMS is undergoing rapid transformation

REC is composed of OPD, Theatre, ward, eye drop production unit, medical stores and guest wing.

Under OURS programme, a range of services including orthopedic services, Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, counseling and community based rehabilitation services are provided. The greatest success story in the delivery of service has been the formation of a association for parents of children with pina bifida and hydrocephilas. This support group association has a membership of over 800 parents. These meet annually to share experiences, to evaluate their successes and to


set new targets. This support group has become a source of hope for both the parents and their children.
